Caldwell fire, police face off in tug-of-war at Indian Creek Festival

CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — A long-running Caldwell rivalry played out again at the Indian Creek Festival, where tug-of-war has been part of the city’s story since the days when dairymen squared off against local businessmen for strength, pride, and bragging rights.

This year’s tug-of-war featured a head-to-head matchup between the Caldwell Fire and Police departments to determine which first responder team would take the title. Caldwell Police, defending last year’s championship, beat the firefighters in a best-of-three matchup, winning 2-0. The firefighters narrowly missed ending up in the creek.

In a social media post after the event, Caldwell Police said, “Caldwell Police came into today’s Police vs. Fire Tug of War as the defending champions, and walked away with a 2–0 sweep in the best-of-three matchup!” The department added, “Our friends at Caldwell Fire gave it their best, but the bragging rights are staying with CPD for another year.”…
