Appeal hearing set for Boise’s Union Block building

Originally published Jan. 26 on KTVB.COM .An appeal hearing on the future of the Union Block building is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Boise City Hall.

The building was previously ordered to be vacated by the city in November because of “safety concerns,” but the owner appealed the decision.

As KTVB previously reported, the Ada County Highway District also closed the surrounding sidewalk and road on Idaho Street between Capitol Boulevard and Eighth Street; the city then put up a notice to vacate and deemed the building unsafe. It is one of the oldest buildings in the city.

The appeal hearing, held by the Boise City Council, allows the public to comment and is open to everyone. More information is available at cityofboise.org.
