With new clinic, Caldwell VA adds capacity for more patients

CALDWELL — Caldwell’s newest health care facility means even more veterans will be able to access needed care.

The Boise Veteran’s Administration showed off its new Caldwell community-based outpatient clinic, located at 713 Haystack Way, on Friday, inviting the public to visit for an open house from 1-3 p.m.

Harold Nye, an Air Force veteran, and his wife, Patricia, of Caldwell were among the visitors who ventured out to tour the building and learn about its offerings on Friday.

Visiting Caldwell’s clinic would potentially allow the Nyes to skip some of Harold’s trips to the Boise VA’s main campus in downtown Boise, a 30-mile trek from their home. Making that trip in the winter “can be a problem,” Harold Nye said.

Nye had a good impression of the facility, saying it “looks so much more modern than even the main campus.”

The new clinic boasts 21,000 square feet of space, up from 9,000 at its prior location, and was built specifically to be a VA clinic, said Harvey Santos, Boise VA’s clinic manager for Caldwell and Eastern Oregon.
