South Ada County Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation: 23-Year-Old Man Dead

The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force is investigating a police shooting that led to the death of a 23-year-old man in South Ada County. The incident occurred early Sunday morning, around 2 a.m., and the man was pronounced dead an hour later. The deputy involved was not injured.

The shooting was prompted by a report of gunfire in the Five Mile/Victory roads area. Deputies responded to a 911 call from a resident on West Seneca Drive who reported hearing a gunshot and seeing a man near an irrigation canal with a firearm.

Deputies arrived to find a man with a handgun on Seneca Drive. A confrontation occurred, during which a deputy fired his weapon. The man was taken to a local hospital by paramedics once the area was secure.

The investigation is ongoing and all information is preliminary. The Task Force, responsible for independent investigations into uses of lethal force in Ada County, is managing the case.

The Boise Police Department is the primary agency for this incident. The man involved in the shooting will be identified publicly by the Ada County Coroner’s office at a later time.
