Prosecutor’s Office seeks death penalty for escaped Boise inmate in Juliaetta man’s murder

NEZ PERCE COUNTY, ID — The Nez Perce County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking the death penalty for Skyler Meade, the man accused of a killing an elderly Juliaetta man during a prison escape.

According to Prosecutor Justin Coleman, Meade has already been sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility after 35 years for the escape charges.

Meade’s arraignment is scheduled for August 8.

Meade was then transported to Nez Perce County to face first-degree murder charges for the death of 83-year-old James Mauney.

Meade escaped a Boise hospital while in custody in March. He was captured about a day later.

During the escape, Meade is accused of killing Mauney and stealing his vehicle in Leland.
