Local businesses donate to Meridian family after devastating house fire

A devastating house fire on Saturday, June 29, left a Meridian family of seven, including five children aged 2 to 13, homeless. After spending three weeks in a hotel, the family has now moved into a rental home but continues to face significant financial challenges as they work toward rebuilding their lives.

Following the fire, neighbors, friends, and strangers collected clothes for the family, brought them meals, helped them salvage special family photos, and provided physical labor in and around the home.

The Bilyk family is grateful for their safety and the well-being of their two dogs. Since the incident, they have been overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses.

“Scheels gave a $250 gift card towards fishing supplies for the kids. Topgolf provided small gifts and gift cards for the children. Boise Mattress owner Steve Houk provided a free King-size mattress, three twin-size mattresses, and one full-size mattress,” Elena Bilyk said. “They were not just any mattresses. They were expensive, comfy, and great quality. We were in disbelief at his generosity.”
