Man shot by police after high-speed chase charged, given $1 million bond

Originally published Sept. 6 on KTVB.COM .A judge on Friday set a $1 million bond for a 24-year-old man who was shot by police following a high-speed chase in early August.

Jeremiah Bainbridge was in critical condition after three Ada County Sheriff’s Office deputies shot at him; he has been charged with several crimes, including grand theft, fleeing police and robbery. He will be required to wear a GPS unit and be barred from possessing firearms. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 20.

On Aug. 1, police were called to Eagle Road and Overland Road in Meridian with reports of a fight. The suspect, Bainbridge, allegedly left the scene, creating a police pursuit. Officers lost the vehicle, but sheriff’s office deputies in Kuna located the car and began another pursuit.

While being followed by police, Bainbridge called dispatch and said he had a gun.

The chase ended at the on-ramp to Interstate 84 and Meridian Road, where an officer was able to perform a PIT maneuver and stop the suspect’s car.
