Live music, classic cars and kayak races will all be on display this weekend at the Indian Creek Festival.
The annual event at Caldwell’s Indian Creek Plaza, which began in 2003, offers family-friendly activities Friday evening through Saturday afternoon and culminates with cardboard kayak races, featuring kayaks that are built using only cardboard, paint and duct tape.
“What started as a small gathering in a parking lot has since grown into a two-day festival spanning multiple blocks of downtown Caldwell,” Destination Caldwell said in a news release.
The festivities begin at 6 p.m. Friday with the Oldie’s Car Show at the Treasure Valley Community College parking lot and live music by JR and the Stingrays at the ICCU Stage. Both events end at 9 p.m.
The action gets going early Saturday with a fireman’s breakfast at 7 a.m. and exotic car show at 8 a.m.
Other events scheduled throughout Saturday include the Chalk the Block art contest from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., live music by Upside Down Entertainment beginning at 9 a.m., dirt road dancing from 11 a.m.-noon, tug-of-wars at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and the kayak races at 2 p.m. Vendors will also be stationed throughout the event grounds.
