2000+ acre Valley Fire spreading along Hwy 21 near Boise

A new wildfire started near Boise overnight. Crews responding this morning to the Valley Fire along Highway 21 near Highland Valley Summit. According to BLM Idaho Fire, the Valley Fire is estimated to be 2000+ acres with no estimated containment or control time.

Road closures are in effect from the junction of Highway 21 and Warm Springs Rd. to Eckert Rd. for public and firefighter safety.

Authorities have directed East Junior High School and Dallas Harris Elementary School to be closed today, per the Robbie Johnson of the Idaho Department of Lands. Any students currently on the bus, will be taken to Les Bois Junior High School, where parents/guardians can pick up their child from there.

The Boise District BLM initially responded to the Valley Fire with four overhead, five engines, two dozers, Boise City Fire, and one investigator.
