Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty does not seem to be slowing down any time soon.
The Broncos running back recorded his eighth 100-yard rushing game in eight games and is keeping pace with the chance to break former legendary running back Barry Sanders’ NCAA single-season rushing record, set at Oklahoma State in 1988.
Jeanty, listed as 5-foot-9 by Boise State, rushed 31 times for 149 yards and two touchdowns while adding two receptions for 31 yards in a 56-24 Broncos win over San Diego State to keep the Bronco’s hopes of a Mountain West Conference title alive. Boise State was ranked No. 14 in the Week 11 US LBM Coaches Poll , giving it the inside track to reach the 12-team College Football Playoff (in which it was ranked No. 12 in the first set of rankings).
If he can win the Heisman Trophy Award this season, Jeanty would become the first running back since Alabama’s Derrick Henry to win the prestigious honor did so in 2015. A record-breaking season could be just what he needs to achieve that.
