NAMPA — Tractor Supply’s plans to build a storage unit received some pushback from community members before being approved at last Tuesday’s Nampa Planning & Zoning Commission meeting.
The company applied for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) to construct a storage unit along with its planned distribution warehouse at 9792 Ustick Road, near the Midland Boulevard roundabout.
The project is described as “onsite storage and packaging of flammable, combustible, and corrosive liquids in individual containers.”
Nearby residents came to Tuesday’s meetings asking for the commission to deny the permit. Most cited concerns about safety and traffic in nearby neighborhoods, with approximately a dozen speaking.
“Safety should not be compromised,” resident Jason Hanks said.
Neighbor Morgan Pitcock said the facility seems incompatible with the area, which is about 6 miles north of downtown Nampa and about 3 miles east of the Caldwell Airport. She asked for a temporary pause on the CUP consideration, asking Tractor Supply to hold a community meeting first.
