Foster Care Furniture crafts brighter futures for Idaho’s youth aging out of foster system

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) – Every year dozens of Idaho kids age out of foster care, leaving them without a support system to transition into adulthood. Some woodworkers in the Treasure Valley are sharing their skills and love for their trade to help foster kids. A local non-profit, Foster Care Furniture, is gearing up for a 13-week program they hope will provide career skills and community for those recently aged out of foster care. The training will take place at The Maker Shop in Boise, and the partnership is one of many that has made the course possible. Not only will the training woodworking but also lessons in various subjects taught by experts in professions like plumbing and electrical work. The goal is to get new adults excited about a trade that they can do for a job.
