‘Circle of good:’ Two Ada County nonprofits combine to provide local food, workforce training

Two Treasure Valley nonprofits centered on food and the concept of “good” will soon join forces, seeking to expand access to nutritious foods and workforce training.

City of Good is focused on building a “sustainable food system” by supporting local farmers and providing access to local products. Create Common Good provides comprehensive training in the food service industries to those who face significant hurdles finding employment, such as incarcerated individuals, refugees and those with disabilities.

These two organizations are in the process of combining forces and operating all their existing programs under the City of Good brand and under its leader, Executive Director Britt Udesen.

“We think of our programming as a circle of good, where, whether you’re a food producer, a food grower, or an eater, you’re benefiting from City of Good’s work,” Udesen said in an interview, “and this merger will really allow us to expand our commitment and service to our restaurant workers.”
