Judge: Boise State will not get new trial in Big City Coffee dispute

A judge overseeing the case between Boise State and Big City Coffee has blocked two of the university’s attempts at a different outcome. In September, a jury decided the university and its employees violated the First Amendment rights of Big City Coffee owner Sarah Fendley and pushed Fendley’s business off of campus in 2020 over her social media post and her support of the Thin Blue Line movement. Shortly after this verdict, Boise State filed motions requesting the judge reverse the jury’s verdict and/or grant the school a new trial.
