A Nampa man has died after being struck by two vehicles while he was putting on chains at a chain-up area on I-84 in Oregon. Oregon State Police (OSP) said the crash happened near milepost 279 on Jan. 1, around 10:30 p.m., in Union County.
According to OSP, 60-year-old Robert Fred Kenyon had pulled his Mack commercial motor vehicle and trailer into a chain-up area and was installing the chains. Police said another driver of a Freightliner commercial motor vehicle and trailer, Steven Bradly Botter, a 47-year-old from Spokane, Washington, drove off the road and hit the Mack. Both vehicles were pushed into the road.
OSP does not know why the initial crash happened at this time.
After the first crash, OSP said another person, Sing Manvir from Fresno, California, who was also driving a Freightliner commercial motor vehicle and trailer, hit both vehicles.
Kenyon and Botter died at the scene. Manvir was taken to the hospital.
OSP is investigating the cause of the crash.
