ISP warns of ‘spoofing’ scam hitting Idaho

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho State Police (ISP) is warning the public of a phone scam hitting the Gem State. The spoofing scam involves using a fake caller ID to impersonate ISP Captains or other personnel.

ISP states that the scam involves callers “falsely claiming to be an ISP captain or representative. These scammers tell victims they have outstanding warrants and must pay their bond using Chime, Venmo, or other online payment platforms.”

This is a scam, police remind Idahoans, and should not be taken seriously…
