Meridian first responders rescue juvenile from freezing water

A student who left school without permission was was rescued from freezing waters by a school resource officer and other first responders.

The juvenile, a student at the Achievement House in the West Ada School District, ran across Linder Road at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, entered an embankment, then a culvert filled with freezing water, according to a news release from the Meridian Police Department. A school resource officer who was searching for the student heard the student while searching for them and quickly entered the culvert in an attempt to reach the student.

Shortly after, multiple officers from the Meridian Police Department arrived at the scene and assisted the effort to rescue the student. After successfully removing the student from the culvert, paramedics assessed the student’s condition and provided the necessary medical attention with additional support from Meridian Fire and Ada County Paramedics…
