Originally published Feb. 20 on KTVB.COM .Idaho veterans no longer able to provide for themselves will soon have a potential new home in Boise thanks to a long-awaited waiver from the federal government.
“[A] huge weight has been lifted off of our shoulders because, without that waiver, we weren’t going to be able to proceed forward with the new construction,” said Mark Tschampl, Idaho Division of Veteran Services director. “We were also at risk of losing our grant funding from the federal VA to build this building.”
Tschample said they were set to replace the current Boise VA home several years ago, but the Build America Buy America Act put things on hold. The law states only American materials can be used for federally funded infrastructure projects…
