Stanley, Idaho (CBS2) – People who have been in Idaho for more than five years will remember the Stanley earthquake that took place on March 31st, 2020. The USGS says the magnitude 6.5 earthquake is the second largest earthquake recorded in Idaho. Since the initial earthquake, there have been more than 3,200 aftershocks reported.
The earthquake took place at 5:52pm MT 19 miles northwest of Stanley and shook the area for about 10 seconds. The earthquake did not cause any injuries. The Idaho Geological Survey says people in Lemhi County reported damage to windows and pictures falling off walls. The earthquake also caused several rockslides on Highway 21. Minor damage was reported at the Boise County Sheriff’s Office. Residents in Boise County also reported some broken windows.
There were more than 39,000 reports of people feeling the earthquake. Those reports came throughout the state of Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming…
