‘March for Meals’ event raises $20,000 despite rainy weather

MERIDIAN, Idaho — Hundreds of supporters braved the rain on Saturday to participate in the annual “March for Meals” event, which raised awareness of senior hunger and food insecurity.

Organized by Meals on Wheels Metro Boise, the walk saw an impressive turnout despite inclement weather, with 430 registered participants and potentially more who did not sign in.

“We’re out here in the rain today marching for meals,” said Grant Jones, CEO of Meals on Wheels Metro Boise. “This is an annual event we hold every year in honor of the month of March, which is significant for Meals on Wheels as Senior Nutrition Month. It’s when the Older Americans Act was signed into law. We have people out here marching on behalf of seniors and raising awareness about the need for food security.”…
