Truck driver sentenced for the 2022 death of Idaho teen cyclist

IDAHO, USA — A truck driver who struck and killed a 14-year-old boy on Highway 55 in 2022 was sentenced Friday to jail time and probation.

Kent Fry pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter in the death of Rylan Hoob, who was hit on the shoulder of Highway 55 near the Beacon Light Road intersection in October 2022.

Judge Cawthon ordered Fry to serve 90 days in jail during a two-year probation period on March 31. The judge also mandated that Fry report to jail before every holiday, including Christmas, Thanksgiving and Memorial Day, remaining incarcerated until the day after each holiday…
