Life Time to bring Idaho’s first ‘athletic country club’ to this Boise-area city

Life Time is moving forward on plans to expand into Idaho.

The national upscale gym chain is planning to open one of its “athletic country clubs” in Eagle later this spring, according to a news release. It will sit on about 10 acres at 1650 E. Riverside Drive on the former site of the Eagle Tennis Club, which announced its closure in October.

The country club will open in two phases and will occupy 135,000 square feet once complete, the release said. The first phase, which is set to open in late May, would include nine indoor pickleball courts and six indoor tennis courts, as well as lounge seating. This “racquet sport-focused” first phase was remodeled out of the tennis club’s existing complex, according to application materials filed with the city. The club was home to 12 indoor tennis courts and has been well-loved by members since it opened in 2016.

The second phase involves constructing a 50,000-square-foot addition to the club, application materials show. It would complete Life Time’s “athletic country club experience” with outdoor pools (as part of its “Beach Club”), a bistro, and a number of health-focused services including barre, yoga, cardio, and strength classes and coaching, according to the release…
