Man sentenced to life in prison for killing fellow Idaho cellmate

BOISE, Idaho — An Idaho inmate was sentenced to life in prison Friday for the 2023 murder of his cellmate at the Idaho State Correctional Center.

James Johnson, 33, received the sentence from Ada County Judge Nancy Baskin following emotional testimony from the victim’s family and Johnson himself. He will be eligible for parole after 35 years.

Johnson beat 45-year-old Milo Warnock to death in December 2023 while both were housed in a high-security “close custody” cell where inmates spend 23 hours daily with cellmates…
