An unsecured container falls from a truck in Middleton, driver flees the scene

MIDDLETON, Idaho — A large water container fell from a flatbed truck and burst open Sunday morning in downtown Middleton, scattering debris across a sidewalk and bike lane. No pedestrians or vehicles were in the area at the time, and no injuries were reported.

According to the Middleton Police Department, around 8:20 a.m., a white four-door flatbed work truck was turning east on Main Street from Hawthorne Avenue when an unsecured 250-gallon water container weighing approximately 2,000 pounds slid off the truck and ruptured.

According to witnesses, the driver initially pulled over but then drove away without attempting to clear the debris or contact authorities. Middleton Fire Department personnel confirmed the container held only water and no hazardous materials…
