Ada County approves impact fees to assist sheriff’s office construction projects

During his run for reelection , Ada County Sheriff Matthew Clifford emphasized that his agency’s ability to respond to the growth of the county would be imperative in the coming years.

A new funding mechanism for the state’s largest law enforcement agency was approved by the county Wednesday, likely to abate some of the sheriff’s prior concerns and allow for the agency to respond to the future needs of the area.

In a 3-0 decision, the Ada County commissioner’s moved to adopt impact fees. The fees, which have already seen utilized in other capacities by the county, will establish a new source of funding for ACSO.
