CALDWELL — The Lizard Butte Kennel Club presented an $8,000 check on Friday to the Nampa Police K-9 unit at the club’s annual dog show held in the O’Connor Field House.
The donation was made nearly seven months after Nampa’s K-9 unit lost a dog in the line of duty .
Riddick, who had been with the Nampa Police Department for nearly two years, was killed in a vehicle pursuit and rollover crash in September. Leaving a hole in Nampa’s K-9 unit, consisting of 11 total canines, the department sought to replace this great loss. Officer Cody Huss, Riddick’s handler, was able to choose a new dog, Vasco. He’s a 16-month-old German shepherd, and Huss chose this name in honor of Riddick, seeing as that was his original name…
