Icy conditions caused a dozen wrecks on local freeways on Friday morning, including one crash that temporarily shut down Interstate 15 southbound near Blackfoot.
Only one person was transported by ambulance to the hospital as a result of the crashes but many of the vehicles involved were totaled, authorities said.
The wreck that partially blocked Interstate 15 occurred around 9:35 a.m. when a 2018 Oshkosh cement mixer, driven by a 37-year-old Idaho Falls woman, was traveling southbound on the freeway north of Blackfoot, Idaho State Police said. The driver lost control of the cement mixer and the vehicle left the roadway, authorities said. The driver then overcorrected, causing the cement mixer to overturn and come to rest on its side blocking both southbound lanes of Interstate 15 and spilling about 10 yards of cement onto the freeway, state police said…
