Traffic light at Highway 55 and Banks-Lowman intersection nearly operational

BOISE, Idaho — The sight of cars being backed up along Banks-Lowman Road on State Highway 55 will become a thing of the past as a newly installed stoplight will soon “light up.”

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) stated that crews are finalizing the installation of signal poles for the traffic signal, which is expected to go live sometime next week. The light aims to make the intersection safer while increasing traffic flow.

Officials said the traffic light aims to create safer conditions, particularly for motorists traveling from Banks-Lowman Road onto SH-55, where lengthy delays have become common during weekends and peak summer periods…
