BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Boise Mayor Lauren McLean rushed to City Hall this weekend to restore two flags that have been the center of controversy.
The Idaho Statesman first reported that a video posted to social media Sunday morning shows two men, Casey Whalen and David Pettinger, placing a ladder against the flag poles in front of City Hall, before placing two flags, a pride flag and a organ donation flag, into trash bags while raising an “Appeal to Heaven” flag.
Mayor McLean went to City Hall on Sunday to remove the trash bags and restore the two flags. Her office tells CBS2, “While the vandalism over the weekend was disappointing, it was quickly remedied, and the city’s existing flags were restored. It is unusual and disappointing to see this kind of activity at Boise City Hall, which is meant to serve as a safe and welcoming space for our residents.”…
