This busy Idaho 55 turnoff is getting a traffic signal. Here’s when it’s coming

Drivers headed from Boise to the Stanley area this summer should expect a smoother commute after a “new, long-anticipated” stoplight is finalized along Idaho 55, according to a news release from the Idaho Transportation Department.

ITD said it will activate the interim traffic signal replacing the stop sign at the intersection of Idaho 55 and Banks Lowman Road in Banks on Monday, May 5. Crews began construction on the well-used highway in March to provide safer and more predictable turning options.

The signal was identified as the best solution following a preliminary study and public feedback to reduce the long lines of drivers who stretch down Banks Lowman Road — especially on weekends — attempting to turn left onto the highway, according to the Transportation Department…
