The kitchen manager at Bishop Kelly High School is keeping things cooking behind the scenes. Brian Bockenstette runs a busy kitchen during the school week and in his spare time, sculpts award-winning masterpieces out of frozen blocks.

Bockenstette retired as a culinary instructor in 2019 and came to Bishop Kelly seeking a part-time position in the kitchen. Within the first couple of months, he discovered that he would be the new kitchen manager. He said his journey into ice sculpting began during his culinary teaching career…
