New video and dispatch call released in police shooting deemed justified by investigators

BOISE, Idaho — The Valley County Prosecutor’s Office has determined deputies and officers were justified in shooting a man following a high-speed chase that ended in Meridan in August 2024.

On Friday, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office released body camera video of the incident after Jeremiah Bainbridge, 24, was shot after exiting his vehicle with a firearm on an Interstate 84 on-ramp.

The incident began around 6 p.m. when Meridian police responded to reports of a man “punching into a car” near the intersection of Eagle Road and Overland Road. Officials said Bainbridge left the scene, prompting a police pursuit. Officers lost the vehicle, but Kuna Police were able to locate it, and another pursuit began…
