The City of Boise let up on its push to require Ada County to add electric vehicle charging stations to the new Ada County jail, but not all the way.
Late last month, the Boise City Council heard an appeal from Ada County of a Planning & Zoning Commission decision requiring the county to install 31 parking spaces wired for eventual electric vehicle charging. The city’s zoning code rewrite, passed in 2023, had a series of requirements for developers to install 20% of parking spaces built with the proper conduit to have the ability to install EV charging later.
