Idaho teacher who put up ‘Everyone is Welcome Here’ announces resignation

BOISE, Idaho — A West Ada School District teacher is resigning months after district officials ordered her to remove an “Everyone is Welcome Here” poster from her classroom, citing a policy against displaying materials that are not content neutral.

The poster has been in Sarah Inama’s sixth-grade world civilizations class at Lewis and Clark Middle School for the last four years. District officials told Inama the poster violated district policy because it expressed a personal opinion that some don’t agree with in “today’s political environment.” After first taking it down, Inama put the poster back up in her classroom.
