The City of Boise said a property owner couldn’t build an oil change business on the Boise Bench. Now, another group is pitching the city on a similar concept on the same site — with a few changes.
As BoiseDev reported last year, the Boise City Council upheld a Planning and Zoning decision to deny a new Grease Monkey oil change business at 5342 W. Franklin Rd. in Boise.
The project was denied because it does not meet the specifications of Boise’s “Mixed Use Active” zoning, otherwise known as MX-3, which typically requires a mixed-use building of at least four stories in height. Developers argue the rules governing the property by nearby Fred Meyer limit buildings to a single story mean building the city’s dense vision for the site is impossible…
