An uptick in motorcycles on the roads is common for the summertime, but according to Idaho State Police, that uptick this summer has resulted in more lane splitting, which is illegal in Idaho.
ISP issued a news release Friday detailing the issues that lane splitting creates and reminded the public that the maneuver can lead to citations, fines and liability in a crash.
Lane splitting is when a motorcyclist rides between lanes of slow-moving or stopped traffic, ISP defined in its release.
