BOISE, ID – Idaho State Police have issued a warning about a growing scam targeting drivers along highway and at gas stations. Scammers are reportedly posing as stranded motorists, claiming they are in urgent need of help.
In these incidents, individuals may tell drivers that their credit cards aren’t working, they need gas, or they are in a desperate situation. Often, the scammers offer to sell what appears to be valuable jewelry or other goods in exchange for cash. However, authorities warn that the jewelry is fake, and the entire situation is a scam designed to take advantage of good Samaritans.
