Ada County records highest fireworks complaints despite fewest fire calls

ADA COUNTY, Idaho — Ada County emergency dispatchers fielded a record number of illegal fireworks complaints during the Fourth of July holiday while simultaneously recording the lowest number of fire-related calls in nearly a decade.

Between midnight on July 4 and 6 a.m. July 5, Ada County Dispatch received 364 illegal fireworks calls, the highest number since 2017. An additional 185 text messages were sent to the administrative line, bringing the total number of fireworks complaints to 549.

The surge in complaints contrasts sharply with fire-related emergency calls, which dropped to just 10 during the same period. That figure represents a significant decrease from 43 fire calls in 2024 and 62 in 2023, marking the lowest number of fire-related incidents in available data, which spans back to 2017…
