Caldwell man charged after an alleged shooting at home, leading police on chase

CALDWELL, Idaho — A 68-year-old Caldwell man faces multiple felony charges after police said he fired shots at a woman’s home on July 4 and later led police on a vehicle chase that ended with an officer injured.

According to the Caldwell Police Department, Fred Carter was arrested after the incident that began on July 4 around 11 p.m. Friday when officers responded to reports of gunfire in the Kiowa Creek area. Police say Carter had been stalking a woman and fired a weapon at her residence. The woman was not hurt, but bullets hit her home.

Officers said they located Carter at his residence as he attempted to get into his pickup truck. When police activated their emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop, they stated that Carter ignored their commands and drove away, prompting a chase…
