Dog rescued from hot car in Boise Walmart parking lot

BOISE, Idaho — A dog was rescued from a dangerously hot car in the Walmart Overland parking lot after being left inside for more than 30 minutes. Authorities responded to a call reporting the dog locked in the vehicle on Monday afternoon, panting heavily, with the temperature inside reaching a staggering 142 degrees. The dog had no water or relief, and there was no sign of the owner.

The Idaho Humane Society says the owner returned about a half-hour later, and the dog was immediately placed into an air-conditioned van. Fortunately, the dog survived the life-threatening situation, but officials warn that not all animals are so lucky.

“Heat can kill, and it doesn’t take long,” said a spokesperson for animal control. Even with windows cracked, leaving a pet in a car for “just a few minutes” can turn deadly…
