The Ford Idaho Center is being considered for transfer to the College of Western Idaho by the city of Nampa, which will make the facility a permanent gun-free zone.
Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling said the city is considering the transfer due to tighter budget restrictions, according to an interview she conducted on Boise State Public Radio. CWI, which is separated from the school by some railroad tracks, says it will continue to host public events, such as the Snake River Stampede.
If the property is transferred to CWI, it appears that it would fall under Idaho’s campus carry law, as outlined in Idaho Code 18-3309. The code prohibits the carrying of firearms, even with an enhanced concealed carry license, in facilities with a seating capacity of 1,000 or more people…
