Idaho Transportation Department unveils new interchange design for SH-16 and SH-44

BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) hosted a public meeting on Thursday evening to discuss the future of the State Highway 16 and State Highway 44 Interchange. The meeting provided community members with an opportunity to learn about the new interchange design, which aims to improve safety and ease of access for drivers.

Construction on the interchange is scheduled to begin this summer, replacing the current intersection with a design that includes ramps to facilitate safer and more efficient highway access. Community members can participate online from July 17-31 if they missed Thursday’s in-person meeting.

The State Highway 44 Interchange will feature a partial cloverleaf design, similar to the interchange under construction at US-20/26 and State Highway 16. The design includes a bridge for State Highway 16 to cross over State Highway 44, with on- and off-ramps providing access between the highways.
