Animal abuse investigation underway in Caldwell after disturbing discovery

CALDWELL, Idaho — The Caldwell Police Department’s Animal Control Unit is investigating a case of animal abuse and neglect after receiving a report on July 15 about disturbing conditions at a residence on Dearborn. Video footage provided by the reporting party revealed several animals confined without adequate food, water, or care. The footage showed dogs, cats, hamsters, and a snake, all in small cages and visibly malnourished.

On July 16, a CPD animal control officer obtained a search warrant for the residence. At approximately 3:45 p.m., animal control and patrol officers executed the warrant and entered the home. Inside, they found unsanitary and cluttered conditions, and were overwhelmed with the odor of animal waste.

During the search, officers recovered several animals that were visibly in poor health. The animals were immediately taken into the care of the West Valley Humane Society veterinary team for further evaluation and treatment…
