Got Lumber: McCall Fire offers free demolition labor for ‘real-world training’

BOISE, Idaho — The McCall Fire Department is turning donated lumber into “burning” opportunities for training, as firefighters construct props to practice attacking structure fires and rescues.

Franklin Building Supply and Builders FirstSource in McCall provided the lumber donations that firefighters are using to build structures, which they say helps practice and “[hone] our survival skills for when the unexpected happens.”

The department is asking residents to consider donating structures scheduled for renovation or demolition…
