Sargent’s late sock spoiled as Ogden Raptors split series with Boise Hawks

Chris Sargent nearly played hero again for the Ogden Raptors but the Boise Hawks spoiled the slugger’s late three-run sock and won 11-9 on Sunday afternoon to split the six-game series and send Ogden to a three-game skid to follow the Raptors’ three-game win streak.

In a game Ogden (31-28, 5-7 second half) mostly trailed, Sargent’s final turn in the order came with two on and one out following Connor Bagnieski’s RBI single and Boise (35-25, 5-7) leading 9-6 in the bottom of the eighth.

Sargent, league-leader in RBIs and second in homers, played Sunday as designated hitter and launched a home run to left field, tying the game at 9-9. That gives Sargent 23 home runs and 94 RBIs for the season. After taking Saturday off, the Sunday shot also gives him seven homers in his last nine games…
