Western Idaho Fair promises fun, competition, and concerts

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Expo Idaho grounds are set to transform once again into a bustling hub of rides, entertainment, food, and family fun as the Western Idaho Fair returns. Bob Bautista, director at Expo Idaho, emphasized the fair’s community spirit, saying, “We go out of our way to make sure the people of Ada County and the Treasure Valley have a nice little party to end their summer in.”

Beyond the festivities, the fair offers a platform for young members of Future Farmers of America and 4-H to showcase their hard work. “We have a lot of kids that participate in either F-F-A or 4-H, and some of these kids are just regular kids that want to enter something in the fair,” said Bautista. He added, “They have projects that they start when summer starts — they go through the whole summer, and they wait to get to here to show their products, show their wares, show what they do.”

This year’s fair will feature a variety of entertainment options included with admission. Bautista highlighted some attractions, saying, “We’re bringing back the sea lions again. I do that because you don’t see a lot of sea lions in Idaho.” He also mentioned a unique act: “We’ve got kind of a — contortionist lady, who’s going to be shooting a bow and arrow with her feet, that’s kind of a fun thing.” Traditional favorites like the petting zoo, stages with bands, and jugglers will also be present…
