Emmett, Idaho (CBS2) — A century-old farm is getting a fresh start thanks to a dedicated family determined to revive its former glory. The farm, originally granted a patent for 80 acres in 1910, has seen its fair share of changes over the years. The land, once split by the Black Canyon Canal in 1938, was home to flourishing fruit trees until interest waned and the orchards were cleared for housing developments.
For over a decade, the 60 acres above the canal sat vacant and vandalized, with only wild apple trees as a reminder of its past. However, in 2018, a family purchased the land with a vision to restore it.
“We’ve rebuilt a bridge, demolished dilapidated structures, removed wild trees, cleared some of the land, installed irrigation, and planted,” said Rob and Roseanne. Despite the progress, they acknowledge there’s still much to be done…
