In-N-Out permit decision delayed in Meridian amid controversy

MERIDIAN, Idaho — The decision on a proposed In-N-Out Burger location in Meridian has been postponed until September due to paperwork issues, city officials announced. The California-based burger chain is seeking to build a new location at the intersection of Ten Mile Road and Chinden Boulevard on a 2.22-acre site, which would include a drive-thru.

The initial permit request was denied by the city of Meridian in a 4-1 vote. In-N-Out has since appealed, addressing concerns about traffic and noise pollution. One proposed change includes reducing operating hours to close at midnight every day, instead of the originally planned 1 a.m. on weekdays and 1:30 a.m. on weekends.

Despite the delay, Meridian residents gathered to express their views on the potential new location. Ty, a Meridian resident said, “This Treasure Valley, Meridian area is growing a ton, I at first thought it was like crazy that it was growing so much, now I’ve came to accept that it’s gonna grow no matter what, and so I except small businesses or businesses to come in to Meridian and for In-N-Out itself I think it’s a great opportunity I mean there are lots of people who like it, there’s lots of people that don’t that’s with any business people are gonna like it or they’re not so at this point I support whatever happens.”…
