After decades of vacancy, historic Idaho National Guard Armory to be repurposed by ministry

Affirming the Planning and Zoning Commission, Boise City Council voted Tuesday to deny an appeal that opposed plans to repurpose the Idaho National Guard Armory into a ministry.

The armory, which is part of the National Register of Historic Places, was built in the 1930s and today is located in Boise’s East End next to Fire Station No. 1 and across from the Boise Bike Park, where it has sat vacant for decades. It was no longer in use by the Idaho National Guard in 1971 and was acquired by the city in the 1990s before before going to a developer through a land swap in 2012…
