Nampa City Council Gets 73% Pay Raises and Increases Property Taxes Simultaneously

The Nampa City Council voted this week to give the mayor a 22% pay increase, the city council a 73% pay increase, while also increasing property taxes by $1.8 million.

The council approved the budget on a 5 to 1 vote, and in a 4 to 2 vote, the Nampa City Council took advantage of the foregone balance. Sebastian Griffin was the only council member to vote against the central city budget and the foregone balance, while Randy Haverfield voted against the foregone balance only.

The mayor’s salary will increase from $110,510.40 to $135,000, or 22.16%. The city council salaries will increase from $10,930.40 to $18,930.60, representing a 73.19% increase…
